This guy was busy saying how the carbon price is the only thing keeping unproductive farms like his in business….

@saltymonke3682 so they’ll be unaffected since it actually starts at 3 million for a couple. And it’s still a big tax break for farmers for amounts above that.

“We’re so efficient” but “our prices are set by imports” and “1% return on investment”. Something isn’t adding up here, it’s woefully unproductive and being outcompeted by more efficient imports even with all the added costs and tarrifs those imports face, so they need tax subsidies too… pfft.

Everyone’s paying for the tax breaks being given to them……

@involuntarilychad4048 if the margins don’t exist it’s because they’re not productive. They should make way for people who can be productive instead of people whose only reason for being there is the circumstances of their birth. It would massively improve UK food security if they do.

Right, this is doing that, just not the rich people pretending to farm for tax breaks.
1
Any tax they raise from multi millionaire pretend farmers is tax everyone else isn’t paying.

Investing in farming, a bad thing….. helping rich aristocrats that fail to produce anything significant good apparently.

@theoutsider6191 more secure more like. Rich people pretending to farm for tax breaks will actually have to make the la d productive or make way for someone who will, instead of passing it down to people whose only skill is being born rich.
1
@michalwalenciak2478 uk farms are highly inefficient. If anything this will improve food supply.
1
@RichardEnglander this is spending, it’s subsidies for rich, and by their own admission, unproductive ‘farmers’.
1
@Finahlie the farms aren’t going anywhere, just the wealthy land owners who are pretending to farm for tax breaks.
