Steve admitted publishing what turned out to be lies, and didn't see a problem with the fact he relied on a single source and mis-represented emails to do so. He's the least worthy of respect person I've seen. Sloppy and inaccurate even WHILE attacking others for the same. He's got no integrity at all, and he's said as much. LTT made mistakes, admitted them. GN made either much bigger mistakes, or deliberate lies, and pretends it's someone else's fault.

@TechMixr Except he did publish the reason they abandoned the sponsorship, at the time. He would have been crucified for telling anyone at the time what he and everyone else thought was the case, it cost creators but still saved consumers money. TunnelBear he also told people, but because he thought it affected his viewers, not just creators like himself, he also put it in a video. People are retrospectively pretending Linus knew about Honey what they know about Honey today, with no evidence. All the evidence they have is from when he DID tell his community what he did know, from other creators.

@jackofsometradesmasterofnone The community would have lynched him if he said 'hey this thing that as far as we know saves you money, stop using that because it harms *me*; It wasn't a secret LTT found out from other creators that were already broadcasting the news, it was long since old news, and they still posted about it. A forum post is more than enough, no one would have watched the video, you'd probably have trouble finding it today, but the forum post is still being brough up today, showing how it was more effective than a video.

@DurzoBlunts If you don't reach out for comment it shows you do not care about the truth and will print whatever salacious gossip you are sent. I could send GN faked emails claiming whatever, and he would print it without checking, and he has told us as much. As long as it's juicy enough, he does not care if it is true. You can always ignore the 'hollow statement' but if you fail to even ask, any reasonable person will sue you into non-existence when it turns out to be false, and it's disrespecting your audience. Investigative journalism requires multiple sources, you don't published based on one, easily faked source that you did not verify. GN did. They published lies. They said they didn't care. Steve is not an investigative journalist, he's a tabloid gossip column. Anyone who associates with that, or defends that, is hugely diminished in authority. GN can't take criticism, they get legitimate criticism and they spend years defaming others as a result. They should be sued out of existence. It's a shame most people consider him to irrelevant to do that.

Linus didn't KNOW that this affected customers, and they DID tell everyone what they knew about Honey. Even though lots of other creators (not GN) were out there telling people at the time. He would have been lynched if he told customers to stop using something that he thought was saving them money, because it cost him money.

@gabrielmazza7923 I've gone further and blocked GN entirely, just removing the recommendations wasn't enough, after they admitted they had no problem with publishing unverified lies.
