I spent my night and weekends making optimizations like this to attempt to stem the unending tide of business owners jumping into a CMS a previous developer had made so powerful they could make it perform absolutely terrible regardless. Businesses will add feature upon feature and it’s a rare business that lets developers optimize and remove the bloat because they can’t sell ‘it just works’.
