  4. I've been stopped by the cops lots of times. I never resisted arrest, I never ran off and I never got the crap beaten out of me. You're correct: this level of beating is wholly unjustified, but sometimes US cops are needlessly fierce because the man might pull out a concealed weapon. Felons will say, "It's OK now, I surrender" and then pull a snub-nosed .32 from their belt and start blazing.
