  5.  @jeffpollard7304  I read a book which explained this in detail. Compared with the four-engined heavies, the Mosquito cost a third as much to build and suffered only a third the rate of loss. It would indeed have made sense to build fewer heavies and more Mossies, but hindsight gives us 20/20 vision. Fewer Lancs? No, fewer Stirlings and Halibags.
