I want Keef Kuntabout as the next Doctor Who. "Oi you f*ckin' Daleks, p*ss off or I'll shaft you with my sonic screwdriver".

40-odd years ago, the BBC was making its complete works of Shakespeare plays. The plays were receiving poor audience figures, so the BBC wanted to spice up the ratings by hiring James Earl Jones to play Othello. The actors union Equity fiercely opposed this, because they claimed the job should go to a British actor rather than American. No protests now that a non-Brit African gay is hired to play the Doctor.

I want Matt Berry as the new Doctor. (Toast, What We Do in the Shadows, etc.)

Bring back Jon Pertwee. I know he's dead but he'll still do a better performance.

I won't watch it.

@jamesdavison2416 Thankyou. Hiring the American James Earl Jones was seen as stealing the jobs of black British actors. Not many of those some 40 years ago. Huge numbers of black British actors are available today. The BBC an actor who fits its own narrative. This isn't about the BBC hiring talent. It's about the BBC deliberately offending the fanbase, because it can.

@Slash1066 DEFINITELY, YES! I'd be DELIGHTED if Richard Ayoade could've been the new Doctor.

@leathleyg5995 "Oi open the f*ckin' door and let me out, it's too Boering in here".

@beecee2205 You are needlessly offensive and it does you no credit. I'd be DELIGHTED if Richard Ayoade could've been the new Doctor. Talented, charming and bound to increase the Doctor's audience and fan base. Instead we get a box-ticked nobody, selected on the basis of diversity but not talent.

You too?

@spitfiremark1a768 Always nice to see Spitfire here again.

@tinastrongbow3292 Yes, and I'm wearing my bushy moustache with my off-white safari suit.

@paulineashcroft1485 Go woke go broke. But that can't happen because of the licence fee. But that's OK, I refuse to buy a licence anyway. I refuse to fund hate-filled propaganda directed at children.

@FatNorthernBigot I THOUGHT IT WAS YOU, CLEM !!!

@FatNorthernBigot The BBC should've hired ME as the new Doctor. There's never been a moustached Doctor and I've got a nice safari suit. (Persons who don't understand should search "Ray bloody Purchase".)

I could accept Richard Ayoade (Moss from The IT Crowd) because he's charming, funny and eccentric. I'd watch just to see his spin on the role. But Fruity Gatwick was selected on the basis of box-ticking alone. It's sad that a genuinely talented British actor couldn't have got the role instead.

@jamesdavison2416 I'd be delighted if Richard Ayoade could've been the new Doctor. NONE of my comments are waycist or anti-black.

@josephinefothergill191 I suspect we're a similar age.

@stevedennison4095 My son is 12. We used to go to car boot sales and buy Doctor Who DVDs. He realised, of his own volition and without me prompting him, that the recent seasons are trash and he stopped watching. Good taste and judgement.

@robm8809 I wholly agree with you. I ceased watching after the first episode.

@Gozzillacia Hey Joe - I've received your reply via my in box, but when I click on it, your comment disappears. There is a phrase somewhere within your comment which YouTube's algorithms define as hate speech. I'm replying to you via your PREVIOUS comment. Also - I agree with every part of both of your comments.
