  1.  @Treeman196  It was more a case of "unit cost". The Yanks were turning out phenomenal quantities of F111s and F4s for their USAF, USN and the Vietnam War. They could sell their stuff very cheaply. The British aerospace industry could not have competed. But you're right: The TSR2 was indeed superior to everything the Yanks were offering.

  6.  @weebrianful  It's a JOKE! "Brown Streak" as in "So terrifying the pilots sh*t their pants". Brown Streak also left skid marks on the runway.

  7.  @Eric-kn4yn  Yes, the Aussies wanted the TSR2 but cancelled because the F111 was much cheaper. That was the final nail in the TSR2's coffin. The unit cost of the TSR2 was just too great, because the RAF would end up being its sole operator. The US did a super-cheap deal with Australia, so as to keep Aussie soldiers in the Vietnam War.

  8.  @mimetype  There's a numpty called weebrian who can't understand your joke. He keeps insisting the Brown/Blue Streak didn't have any pilots. Then he left a comment about your Brown Streak reply not being funny. I myself remember the Brown Streak being tested in the 1960s. It left skidmarks on the runway.
