  4. From memory (it's decades since I read it) the last words of "Enemy Coast Ahead" were "We were coming home". Sad to think of what happened to Gibson a few months after he finished the book. Sometimes a very simple line like that is very poignant. Like the closing scene of the Dambusters movie, where Gibson (Todd) says he's got some letters to write and walks off into the distance. No drama. Less is more.
