Agreed. Many volunteers saw the Germans as liberators, after the Soviet Union had murdered around 5,000,000 of their countrymen during the 1920s and 1930s.

@robertjohnston8690 Definitely. Also, Ukrainians are justified in feeling the same way about the Soviet Union (and by extensions, Russia) as Israelis feel about the Nazis. Although Stalin was actually a Georgian. Oh heavens, my mentioning the Holocaust will inevitably trigger all the deniers...
