  1. Imagine a British astronaut returning to London,. a hundred years from now. A bit like Charlton Heston in the final scene of "Planet of the Apes". The astronaut sees Westminster Tower (Big Ben) toppled on its side. "You b4stards! Damn you all to hell!" The camera pulls back and the horizon is covered with minarets, with an audio track of the Muslim call to prayer. And that, folks, is what you and I have allowed on our watch.

  3. Walking through Westminster is like walking among the ruins of ancient Egypt or the temples of the Mayans. The buildings remain, but the great civilisation which built them has destroyed itself and the people are long gone.
