I've always disliked the word "villain". It's a Norman-French word, which usually means "criminal" but literally means "villager". The Normans imposed ruthless cruel laws on the English peasants. Every native English villager was regarded as a potential criminal. The word was used by tyrants and land-grabbing monsters to condemn the common English, and I hate it.

I'm tempted to offer my transmotic contrafibularity, but my pericombobulations might be offered instead of my interfrastical pendergestulations. (With thanks to Rowan Atkinson.)

Black Lesbian Poet Aha, you're a hate-filled anti-British black lesbian. I've got you now.

The Normans stole great swathes of land from the English, but the Church oversaw a means of redress. Any villain who believed the land was his own could appear before a tribunal. A pot of water would be raised to the boil. The Englishman was required to plunge his arm into the boiling water and hold it there. If the arm healed itself quickly, this meant God had intervened on the Englishman's behalf and the land was rightfully his. That was justice, Norman style. The descendants of those Norman overlords still own most of those lands to this day.

Black Lesbian Poet "You will own nothing and be happy". I know about the first part. When can I expect the second bit?

@andrewturnbull1027 The term "Great Britain" means the British Isles, as opposed to the "lesser Britain" of Brittany in what is today called France.

@gumnut6922 "Bitter and full of spite". A black antisemitic lesbian who hates the English. The black lesbian poet is either a parody, or a member of the Labour Party.

@johnbrereton5229 Wow. That's the kind of info I'd usually discover from Carl Benjamin.
