I loved the Ladybird books. Henry V, Nelson, Warwick the Kingmaker, Oliver Cromwell, aircraft etc. I wish they were still available.

@ruthbashford3176 The UK was mining the most expensive coal in the world. Miners were subsidised by the taxes of bakers in Swansea, hairdressers in Luton, bus drivers in Aberdeen and supermarket shelf-stackers in Fishguard, all to keep miners employed, to sell expensive coal at a fraction of what it cost to dig it out of the ground. In the 21st century, we shouldn't be burning coal at all. 20 years from now we won't even be allowed to fit new gas boilers in our homes. Blaming Maggie for closing the mines is like blaming prime ministers for ending travel by airship, or killing the horse-drawn carriage business.

Coal was reaching the end of its usefulness. The UK was producing the world's most expensive coal which nobody wanted to buy.

@raven-sf3di I'm reminded of the episode of "Archer", where Sterling Archer was trying to prevent a terrorist from blowing up a 21st century airship. It's probably on YouTube.
