  3. I've had lots of contact with students from Hong Kong, the epitome of British fair play and organisation, combined with Chinese hard work and business sense. The template for a prosperous and fair society is right there. Some cultures are better than others, as proven throughout the world.

  5. Mosley was regarded as a traitor because he'd sided with Hitler. He was rightly imprisoned, but released later in the war when it was clear Britain would win and Mosley was a spent force.

  6.  @jayturner3397  Jettison action, as accurately portrayed in the movie, "Battle of Britain". The Luftwaffe had burned Rotterdam a few months earlier. It's plausible that this too was in error, but Goebbels still praised it as an example of German might. Warsaw was bombed into submission. As Churchill put it, an appeaser is someone who thinks the crocodile will eat him last.

  8.  @jayturner3397  Correct. The RAF did indeed bomb Kriegsmarine docks attached to German cities as early as September '39. Haters always claim these were attacks on the cities themselves, but they weren't. The RAF was strictly forbidden to drop anything over German cities except propaganda leaflets, until Wellingtons hit Berlin after the Luftwaffe first hit London.

  9.  @seansabhaois  Thankyou for your mention of your Grandfather's uncle. The 1000 bomber raid on Cologne was the turning point in the RAF's campaign. Everything changed from that point. The RAF had invented "window" (tin foil to confuse radar) as early as 1940. Its use was avoided until the Cologne raid because it would immediately be copied by the Germans. It wasn't until the Cologne raid that the RAF definitely knew it had the upper hand and it would benefit the RAF more than the Luftwaffe.

  11. Churchill didn't become PM until eight months into the war. Blaming Churchill for rejecting peace deals prior to that time is nonsensical. Chamberlain and Lord Halifax wanted appeasement. Churchill was only First Lord of the Admiralty at that time. Hitler's word was unreliable. To quote a line from a movie, "The Fuhrer's guarantees guarantee nothing". As Stalin discovered.

  16.  @georgehetty7857  Slavery was bad. Being an impoverished English family in 17th or 18th century wasn't much better. Slaves were an investment, like farm tools or looms. Owners had to house, feed and clothe their slaves or they'd lose their investment. Meanwhile, poor whites could starve without assistance. Slaves benefitted from capitalism, strange and horrific but true.
