  1. The Armistice was a cease fire, not a surrender. The war wasn't finished until after Versailles. Many memorials to the fallen date the War as 1914 to 1919. Keeping the boot on Germany's neck ensured compliance.

I've left a reply and set him straight, about how the RAF did indeed bomb Kriegsmarine DOCKYARDS from '39 before switching to leaflets over cities. You and I have chatted about this stuff before, I know you've got knowledge to impart.

Churchill regarded the French desire for reparations at Versailles as needlessly vengeful and humiliating. He knew it might cause a future war. He stated at the time, "This is not a peace. It is a ceasefire for 20 years".

  11.  @mrfireblade900cc  No. That's completely wrong. The RAF bombed naval dockyards in Germany from September 1939. This is NOT bombing civilians. The RAF received a mauling, so moved to dropping propaganda leaflets over cities at night. The bombing of cities was expressly forbidden. Meanwhile, the Luftwaffe had bombed the hell out of Warsaw and later Rotterdam. No German CITIES were bombed (apart from their Kriegsmarine shipyards) until AFTER the Germans bombed London. Which was, incidentally, the turning point in the Battle of Britain.
