He demanded that on his death, hundreds of his slaves should be beheaded until there was enough blood in a pit to float his coffin-canoe. The event was witnessed by British traders, who reported back to London. This prompted the Royal Navy's crackdown on the slave trade, which did more to destroy slavery than any other operation in history. The RN freed thousands of black slaves, who begged not to be returned to Africa. Instead they begged resettlement in the Caribbean, whey they knew they'd achieve liberty. FUN FACT: The mythical land of Wakanda is based upon the ancient civilisation of Dahomie.

  2.  Simon Foxwell  Gezo specified the number of slaves he wanted beheaded. In the event, Gezo's estate murdered a smaller number of slaves, because slaves were worth lots of money.
