@hetrodoxly1203 Plenty of different nationalities in the British campaign in north Africa.
I recommend "Popski's Private Army", an autobiography of a chap who set up a reconnaissance unit similar to the SAS. He was a Belgian from a Russian Jewish family, who served in the French Army in WW1. He was an engineer in Egypt during the 1930s, and learned fluent English, German, Italian and Arabic for his work. He volunteered for the British Army in 1930, thinking his linguistic abilities and desert knowledge were useful. He was refused because Belgium was still neutral. He was admitted in 1940, and given command of an Arab regiment in the British Army. He realised that wasn't the best use of his talents, and formed a reconnaissance unit which also did hit-and-run attacks in the style of the LRDG.
I can't spell the chap's name, but perhaps there's a Wiki page about him.
There was also a Jewish unit in the British Army, particularly useful for getting behind German lines and wreaking havoc.
