  1. Whites didn't start the slave trade. It existed for thousands of years before whites got on their first longships. It existed in China, south America, India, Africa, everywhere. But whites ended the slave trade. Say "thankyou" unless that's too hard.

African slavery existed before the first Europeans arrived and continues in Mali to this day. Find the story of King Gezo of Dahomey, the mid-19th century king who decreed that on his death, hundreds of slaves should be beheaded, their blood emptied into a pit until it floated his coffin-canoe. This horrific event was witnessed by British merchants, who reported the horror back to London. The Royal Navy was sent to destroy the slave trade in that region. The thousands of freed slaves begged not to be returned to Africa, and asked to be resettled in the British Caribbean.
