  3.  @ProfessorTimWilson  I'm British and I owned a terraced guest house. The place next door housed refugee claimants. This was shortly after the 2001 9/11 attacks in NY. A week later, there was a retrospective TV documentary about the timeline. I knew the refugees next door were watching the TV because of the loud cheering coming through the party wall. Whenever footage of the planes hitting the Towers was shown, the "refugees" next door stamped, cheered and celebrated. No mistake. I doubt whether Jewish refugees in 1940 celebrated the fall of France or the blitz on Coventry. Disproving an asylum claim can be difficult, but some refugees are more authentic than others.

  4.  @verystripeyzebra  Someone who's travelled through multiple EU countries is in the UK for the benefits, not the refuge. In 1930s Germany, authentic refugees prioritised getting their wives and kids out FIRST, followed by themselves. Hence the "kinder transport", etc.
