  1. Phenomenal. Useful to compare the Hornet with the Dornier Pfeil, an aircraft designed for the same purpose but dreadfully over-complicated. Whereas De Havilland simply grafted a single-seat cockpit to a Mossie and made a thousand detail improvements.
