  1. The UK has sh*tty weather and a big coastline. It came naturally to Brits to say, "I'm sick of this, I wanna sail away to somewhere nicer". Hence world history for the past 500 years.

  2.  @Bruhmin-jw9ie  If the UK's weather was nicer, there'd be less incentive to leave. Harder to get on a sailing ship and leave your country if it's mostly landlocked.
