  1. I was watching a TV documentary about archaeology a few days ago. The earliest evidence of humans occupying the British Isles comes from around 750,000 years ago. Tools have been found in geology which has been reliably dated. This is from BEFORE the ice sheets covered most of the UK. Early humans would've been displaced over subsequent millennia, and returned as the ice retreated.

  3. My dog used to wear sun glasses. He loved 'em when we went car-riding and he put his head out of the window. The grins and waves from other motorists were delightful. The trick is to use two boot laces: One under your dog's chin and one above his neck Otherwise the glasses will quickly be lost.
