  1. To observe 19th century manners, I recommend the movie, "Kind Hearts and Coronets". Of course those manners ONLY applied to specific social strata.

These manners only applied if you weren't working 12 hours a day down a mine from the age of 13, sleeping in a hovel where you share your room with five strangers, eating gruel with some fish heads for flavouring and suffering from rickets and might have tuberculosis and with no prospect of ever gaining the vote. That was the real life experience for more than half of the British population during the 19th century.
