  3. I'm British and in the UK. A friend had a two week holiday in Florida. He was stopped for speeding. The officer drew his weapon, as a precaution. Both the cop and my friend were polite. My friend got a speeding ticket and, being law-abiding, he returned to the UK and sent a cheque. My friend didn't get killed. Perhaps not fighting the cop is related in some way.

  7. I'm British and in the UK. When I enter a big city, I'm NEVER fearful if I'm standing close to a group of young men of Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese descent. But if I see a group of young men of African descent, I'm walking the other way. That's just pattern-recognition.

  14.  @d-mac734  I left a comment here yesterday but it's disappeared. I think I accused all CCTV cameras of being r - ist. Because most of the people they film committing crimes aren't hu ite. Neither do they tend to be east Asian.

  15.  @choppersixty  Here in the UK, smaller crimes are routinely recorded as "incidents" but not crimes. Most smaller crimes (bike or cellphone thefts) are never investigated anyway. It makes the crime level look smaller, and the arrest/conviction rates for the remaining crimes are boosted. Lying via statistics.

  23.  @themagnumtodd  This was in the 1990s. Sometimes a cop can't predict how a driver might react. I can't blame the cop for being cautious. Maybe I got it wrong, maybe the cop had his hand on his weapon but didn't draw it. But it was indeed the whole "Get out of the car, show me your hands, place your hands on the car" malarkey.

  38. I'm British. If a bunch of redcoats returned and burned the White House, that'd still be a tiny crime compared with what happens in the DC war zone every night. Meanwhile, my own capital city of London resembles the ruins of ancient Egypt or the temples of the Incas. The stones remain, but the magnificent civilisation which created the monuments has long since destroyed itself. We are watching the collapse of western civilisation. Strangely, Putin's Russia almost looks safe and inviting.
