The concept of city states in the future will only be taken seriously if first New York, Delaware, San Francisco, LA, London, Manchester, Liverpool, Sydney, Melbourne, etc become actual sovereign city states. Otherwise, non will actually do that, thinking it's just a tactic to divide and conquer ;).
