Nigel Johnson It's no more a historic unity fermented though a common background then the UK.
Although in most cases it went trough Royal Marriages and a shared history this is not the case for the USA, that is a conglomerate of states without a real history or people, it's still trying and these # get more prominent by the day on the interwebs:
#TEXIT.
#JerseyExit.
#DelawareExit.
#HawaiiExit.
#LouisianaExit.
#CaliExit.
#SeattleExit.
In the UK the SNP wants Scotland to be independent and sovereign,....and Northern-Ireland is seriously considering joining the Irish Republic under certain circumstances might they arise , how long will the Welsh keep going after that I wonder ?
In Australia Queensland seeks independence,....WTF 😕⁉
I'm not in the business of trampling on people's rights, but they need to adhere to the laws and agreements, but most of all, they need to know what it really is going to mean for them to do anything drastically different, because in reality it's just that "drastically" and "different", not necessarily a good or positive thing for them.
Blindley following people like Nigel Farage, Puigdemont, Geert Wilders, Marine Le Pen, etc, etc leads absolutely nowhere, these people don't have "a plan" for after, they just want power for power sake, at your cost no less.
You'll find these characters in every country praying on every small division and making it bigger then it really is, they are political predators, pure opportunist and only the blind and braindead follow these people to oblivion by sanctifying them.

Nigel Johnson I don't agree with that first part, been to the Kingdom plenty of times across all its regions,....Spain lives in most people, it's more a fringe movement that opposes the unity of Spain.
And the most prominent of them Catalonia has a legal democratic way to leave, Puigdemont choose not to use it because he couldn't win, he opted instead for a coup d'etat attempt, his only real way to what he wanted.
His and all the other separatist movements in Catalonia cheat aswell.
They give the voting public in rural sparsely populated area's twice the votes a system that undemocratically keeps them in play, it's the same system the Japanese party uses to keep Shinzo Abbe in power with all the negative consequences of that, this will be the future of an independant Catalonia too if Puigdemont gets his way, nothing democratic or representative about it.
And if he succeeded in his attempt the EU couldn't have obliged because of article 55 to get them into the EU in any meaningful way, leaving Catalonia open to austerity,....all things the English Nigel Farage forgot to mention to the British population awell, Puigdemont would have done the same to devastating consequences as a result.
