We don't have that problem in the Dutch Kingdom, we are all polyglot's, it's in our nature to speak several languages and over 85% of Dutch have English as one of the average 3 to 4 languages we generally are able to speak, read and write. But for an English speaker who lives here to not speak part of our language to at least a conversational level after 2 to 3 years your going to get called out on it by your employer, colleagues, friends, client's and people you meet on a regular basis, you can be sure of that. We would even ask you how many languages you speak, if your answer is one,...it's not looking good for you and people would make a remark on that, we expect you'd be able to atleast speak, read and write in 3 language's here in the Dutch Kingdom even if your a foreigner.
