  1. The US doesn't have the means or moral authority anywhere actually, neither do they have the jurisdiction outside the US ! But i agree that something more most be done, the US involvement only works as a red rag to a raging Bull in this, it's counterproductive. Neither North-Korea or China will see the US as anything but a very biased party trying to implant it's agenda on this issue. The Russian's although not very happy either with North-Korean actions of late aren't going to help the US try and get its agenda inserted into this perticular problem either, of course China and Russia have their own agenda in this too, a unified Korea is bad for Chinese geopolitical reasons and to a lesser but still important degree to Russia aswell. Then you have South-Korea that in reality isn't all to trilled by the prospect of North-Korea unifying with it either, the North-Korean people already living in South-Korea can testify to that. At fist they got real help from the South-Koreans lasting quite a while years really with work, money, education, health care, integration, etc this initial euforic attitude towards them has subsided and has since been replaced by a more hostile and suspicious mood towards them. Gone are the years of help only to be replaced by a 3 mouth period of help of integration, yes there are still schools helping to close the language and education gap but that's only for young North-Korean people, the rest are pretty mutch left to fend for themselves with only a very low allowance that's constantly being threatened by the South-Koreans populist view that they are freeloaders and should be made to do menial jobs for low pay or be send back to North-Korea (ahh, brotherly love only go's so far). And untop of all that sits the Kim dynastie with the 3rd Kim family despot Kim Young Un ruling that hermit Kingdom of North-Korea like the Psychopath that he is, gone are the West hopes of him turing out to be a moderate King with a benine view of the world around him because he loved Swiss cheese after spending most of his adolescence in Switzerland. Instead he's learned to play with fire, doing tricks to a captivated an audience watching from a far, now it's seems he can burn our houses down with great new toy's. Never ask him to put them down and sit with the adults for a second because his uncle and a few other family members made that mistake to, may they rest in peace or pieces would be a more accurate description, because he had them executed with anti-aircraft gun's on a firing range. (sounds like a guy that's reasonable;) . excuse my pessimistic view, but i'm not holding my breath on this somehow changing into anything positive in the near future, the boy King is playing with Nuclear devices now and proportion isn't his strong point, if you startle him the world could catch fire.
