Have you ever attended a conference or a workshop or even a presentation at your local public library? Conferences invite guest speakers to come and speak to their audiences on a variety of topics. The gentleman from Tennessee was invited as a speaker. Understand? Why does that make you angry? Why are you trying so hard to make that seem nefarious?

  4. Gerrymandering involves drawing very exaggerated district borders to falsely create a district where one party's candidate is virtually guaranteed to win. Unfortunately, both sides do it. I believe the word was coined when someone in government commented that the district looked like a salamander. Let's say that there are two higher rent areas with a low income area in the middle. The gerrymandering trick is to draw district lines that somehow unite the highest income areas while slicing the low income area off into some other district. The district lines would probably involve a lot of twists and turns to accomplish that trick. Gerrymandering usually shows up on a map because most of the districts have very strange shapes, few natural borders like bridges or rivers or rail lines.
