@elenapashaeva1 Carbs are cheap. When you have to stretch a food budget beyond reason, you lean on pasta, rice, potatoes, ramen. Fresh produce, fresh fruits and vegetables cost more and are perishable. So if you are sharing someone else's home, refrigerator space can be an issue. Canned veggies/fruits are not as healthy, with added salt and syrup. Notice the film of the pantry pickups always had cans going into the bags. Remember how they said like four times, "I hope they have strawberries. I hope they have strawberries.". Real produce very hard to get at pantries. So it really doesn't have a lot to do with being sedentary. Living on food stamps and pantry food is beyond challenging. It wears you down like water dripping on a stone. Anytime we want to start taking child poverty in the USA seriously... We have lots of work to do.

@Elora_Danon yes! Stay strong!

@KC-dr3cg These single moms are using their time to work, search for jobs and new housing, do pantry pickups plus home schooling because of the pandemic. Plus housework and a dozen other things. Nutrition workshops and workouts? Really? When would that happen? Instead of sleeping?

@Elora_Danon yes! Thank you! She is already a miracle worker to be able to survive at all on 10,000 annual for a family of four!! And how is it possible that she has been declared disabled, unable to work, yet she has to work to earn disability payments. What? Does anyone else hear the irony? And if her feet and legs are swelling, that probably means her kidney condition is getting worse. Is there a pro bono lawyer out there who can help to sue her state human resources administration?

It's sad how Abbott cut mental health services in the Texas state budget. Then he blames the several mass shootings that occur in Texas on mental illness. Try gun safety legislation, because that actually works.

This also makes our enemies smile around the globe. USA does not seem to be a capable international power when we cannot control violence in our schools. The lack of comprehensive federal gun safety legislation has become a national security issue.

Before the pandemic NYC was enjoying historically low crime rates. Strict gun control works.

One mom said she had been getting child support but that father's income disappeared when the pandemic hit. Remember when lots of jobs disappeared overnight with the pandemic? And sometimes jobs disappear even without a pandemic. So the people who had been hanging on by their nails always get hit the hardest. Is it really about the fathers, or is it about the richest country in the world setting up a societal system that makes so many mothers and children so vulnerable? I'm sure there are other countries that are worse, but really, we should be ashamed.

Honor the angels with gun safety legislation. Contact your representative ASAP.

@Kyarrix You are my new hero today! Your calm careful reasoning is AWESOME. It is clear that you are passionate about your work as an officer of the court. You win the internet today, and every day. Thank you for taking the time to add your extensive comments ; I hope people take time to read your words, and really think about them. Thank you again, especially because I imagine your time is very limited due to the nature of your work. Stay awesome ⭐

@lukemurray1104 wow you didn't read Kekkai's extensive detailed comments. Maybe you didn't want to spend time and effort to read a longer message? Just wondering...

@imsewgood There is a program for very low income people to apply for a mobile phone. It is needed for job search, contact with your doctors and/or your children's school, emergency contact with fire and police. Believe me, the government wants people to be in contact, to receive emergency bulletins, to report crimes in progress, etc. Don't worry, don't be jealous, it's not a state of the art phone, just basic. I believe it started in 2009 or 2010 when the great recession had so many people searching for work but would lose job offers without a cell phone.

@Kyarrix and only a year later! Lol. Good words with a lasting impact. Your love of the law is palpable. Maybe public defender next? One day SCOTUS? Stay strong!
