  1. It's about not allowing ourselves to get dragged into acts that are violations of international law. Alliances are important, but not if you feel forced into violation of international law. The treatment of innocent civilians is beyond the pale. These forced evacuations look like our Trail of Tears. Several hostages were released; why not continue to try to make peace work? Hostage families must be in misery right now. So heartbreaking. A horrific mess on all sides.

  2. Truly excellent. Now, how do we get this talk to pierce the other bubble? It does feel like there is a huge need for lessons in civics and accurate history, for the electorate at large to learn or relearn things that they were never taught, or that was forgotten due to the overwhelming distractions of daily life: childcare, pta politics, medical visits, folding laundry, etc etc etc. But it is likely that this wonderful talk is only preaching to the choir. How can we reach those who might really need to hear this?
