Adams, the greatest disappointment of a mayor ever in nyc history. Fiorello LaGuardia is spinning in his grave.
16
For a woman to give birth on the street like that, she's probably a very vulnerable homeless individual. Maybe she's not engaged in law workshops right now. If she left the baby near an EMT station and an ambulance, it certainly seems like she was trying to abandon the baby in the right way. I hope she gets an actual trial so that an intelligent judge can see what seem to be good faith attempts to do the best possible thing in impossible circumstances. I think I'm glad that she got arrested, because now maybe she can get some help and some housing. I wish we had a real Mayor right now. Lots of good Democrats available for the post. I cannot wait until the next Democratic primary.

Actually NYC does not experience bridge collapses non stop. Falsehood. However, if this bridge was not designed to withstand climate crisis high temperatures for extended periods (that wouldn't have been necessary 100+ years ago, or even 40 years ago) maybe some infrastructure upgrade would be helpful. I'm actually surprised to see that this bridge was opened at all. There used to be a small bridge at 207th street that used to open and get stuck almost daily. They did some renovations on the bridge and stopped opening it. Works like a charm. Certain sections of the river are just not suited to larger vessels. If your boat doesn't fit under the bridge, chart another course. Basic. This is not the Hudson River, this is a branch of the East River going into the Harlem River through a section of water called Hellgate. So if you are a large boat, you don't really want to go through this anyway. In my opinion. Chart your course carefully. Don't break the bridge during a heat wave.

Yes, please pay attention to science. Change the TV channel; use reliable news sources. Make your middle school science teacher proud. We were warned about this at least 20 years ago, but no one wanted to listen. The fossil fuel industry particularly did not listen. According to statistics, in the 1960s one serious heat wave was typical, now six heat waves are typical. FEMA costs for a constant string of disasters are mounting. Yes, green changes are existential, and climate change is real.

So glad President Biden finally got Infrastructure Week done! πHopefully there are some infrastructure dollars still available. This is a major bridge for NYC, and even people coming down from Westchester and New Jersey. The Major Deegan is indeed Major, so hope this resolves soon. π½ππ½

25th amendment already!

Thank you for thinking of others. Also, keep in mind that many landlords don't give their tenants heat, so cold nights can be.....memorable. Also, we are a little out of practice because we have not had snowy winters for several years. I hope this means the planet is trying to heal?? But I know that's not the case. Stay safe. Support green energy. We'll get there. π½

Yeah, that's what I thought. I was surprised to see this open at all. This vessel should have been redirected on another course. This is not the Hudson. This section of the river is not suited to larger vessels, in my opinion.

NYers do not applaud vigilantes. If someone is screaming on a subway, change to another car. Thats what any NYer would do. Then you can contact the conductor or the token booth employee to get the guy some help. Sometimes there are even teams in the larger stations who have water and sandwiches and try to connect people with shelter. No vigilantes required. Vigilantes endanger NYers, especially innocent bystanders

More than month without rain. No need for conspiracies. Climate change.

I would love to know why this bridge was opened? I don't know that this bridge is opened routinely. Why wasn't the vessel rerouted?

NYC, the greatest city in the world! π½ππ½

This vulnerable man who was troubled for most of his life and failed by the foster care system needed help. He was screaming for help. As an ex marine, this guy should know that many of his veteran brothers often need mental health treatment and substance treatment. I hope he will treat them with more kindness.

Heat records, tornados, hurricanes, floods, all real.

If a person is yelling on the subway, change to another car. That's what any NYer would do. After changing to a more quiet car, if you can, walk to the car with the conductor and inform that conductor that transit police need to meet this train at the next station to get this guy help. Or get off the train at the next stop and inform the token booth employee that there's a problem so the individual who is screaming can get help. Living with others, especially when some of those people are vulnerable and need help, this is a life skill worth learning.

Imagine four years of this guy's mouth? Unbearable. Vote carefully everyone. ππππ Up and down the ballot. If we lose our democracy, we won't get it back. For reproductive healthcare, for jobs, for legislation. βοΈπβοΈ
2
What governing experience does Dr West have? Government is an actual job, and not everyone is good at it.
2
How could anyone vote for four years of this noise coming out of his mouth? The last time he talked this much, he was dropping the ball on the pandemic and one million+ USA residents were lost. Vote. π½πππππ½

NYPD was not defunded. They even had extra money to buy a rather comical robot, so ... New York Public Library was defunded, not the police. Please use responsible news sources. Looking forward to voting out Adams.
2
Could be, but.... Really painful to watch bcuz these larger parks are one of the best things about these uptown neighborhoods. Who has a grudge about NYC and its neighborhoods of color? Everyone seems to have fun hating NYC these days. Stay alert, stay green. ππ½π

Never Adams. He has proven that he is not qualified by performing abysmally when the city really needed him to help with the COVID comeback. Now NYC is in its comeback in spite of Adams, not because of his "work." Plus the legal charges take priority now. He must clear his name if he is to continue in public service, even as dog catcher. Enough with the felons already. Fiorello LaGuardia is spinning in his grave. There are several quality Democrats in the wings. I especially like Williams, the public advocate. Looking forward to the first debates.

Stringer used to have a good housing plan. However, I know NYC has a lot of talent. These two are not it. And never Adams. Let him finish his court appearances and fully clear his name. Then we can start talking about the horrible job Adams has done. NYC has lots of talent. Looking forward to the first debates.

Secret service protects a former president, but campaigning is a different challenge. The campaign has to pay for additional security, but campaign funds are being used for legal fees, so ... Maybe campaign security needs are being short changed?
1
The uses are coming from Abbott. Audit Abbott's use if INS resettlement funds.

Cannot wait for Mayor Adams to get voted out. Doubt very much that he is putting any energy behind vision zero. Traffic safety matters.

Climate change is real. But I cannot waste too much time on people who refuse to change the channel in their TV. I'll try this one more time. The increased tornados, floods, hurricanes are real. The many many people who have lost their homes, those families are real. The residents of Florida who cannot get insurance anymore, all real. Wake up. Or not. ππππ

Climate change is real.

Someone like sliwa? So, someone with no experience and no qualifications? A radio host with too many cats?

Wow, that's a huge shout out for the Major Deegan and Third Ave! Cannot blame him, probably wanted to get a look at Yankee Stadium and some views of the river. Thanks for the visit! You're welcome anytime!! π½

Can't you hear LaGuardia laughing at you right now? If you think LaGuardia was a joke, you haven't read the history. He got NYC through both the Great Depression and World War Two, plus the housing crisis presented by thousands of USA military personnel coming through our city after the war was over. Not afraid to face down the German Bundes in the 1930s who would parade on Third Avenue creating conflict and fist fights up and down the avenue. Unfortunately, he was a very type A personality and he died sooner than he should have, but when the city needed him he stepped up and gave it his all. I wish the forces of the universe could send us another Fiorello LaGuardia who can respond to the moment we are in. I am absolutely looking forward to the opportunity to vote Adams out. π½ππ½

Actually it's not the law. It's Adams inability to read and understand the law. Violent offenders can absolutely be deported. He just doesn't know how to get anything done. Can't even exterminate the rats. Bye bye Adams. Luckily, the Democratic party has many talented professionals ready to run for mayor.
1
We are all guilty. This vulnerable man was failed by our society at every point in his life, especially by the foster care system. He very obviously needed mental health treatment and substance treatment. This former marine might need mental health treatment as well. Many of his veteran brothers might need mental health treatment and substance treatment. I hope he will be more kind to them. Shame on him. Shame on all of us.

Cannot wait to vote out Adams. Worse mayor ever IMO. With his background in policing, wow, he has no excuse. NYPD was not defunded, he chose to defund the New York Public Library. NYPD had so much extra money they decided to buy a cute little robot for the subways. Hmm..... Vote Adams out.ππ½π

Yes, saving the taxpayers money and getting the guy charged quickly and smoothly is a win win. He won't be back in Congress, he will do jail time, and the case has been so public that people are now fully warned about who this guy really is. At this point, if someone were to trust this guy with their money, well, that's on them for not paying attention. The public is protected, the fraud has to be repaid, the Congress has been made whole. Win win. Dragging this case out for years wouldn't help anyone, and it would cost the taxpayers a lot of money.

PLEASE pay attention to history; it matters. Third party in 1968 gave us Nixon. Third party votes in 2024 will give us four nightmarish years with the pumpkin headed fool who will end democracy. Please pay attention. The margins are too tight for mistakes. President Biden has a definite talent for getting legislation across the line and signed, despite a razor thin majority in the House and Senate. LBJ signed a lot of important legislation too, but he had healthy majorities to work with. Biden has earned another four years. FDR was ugly, old and disabled, but he passed lots of legislation and got us through the Great Depression and World War Two. We are not casting Ken for a Hollywood movie; we are picking a president who has experience in governing and legislation. Third party candidates will not get us there. Nope. π½πππ½
1
Wow, imagine another 4 years of this kind of yammering. And while he's talking and talking and talking, our global allies are moving away from us, shaking their heads, losing respect for us, and moving closer to other world powers. While he talks about the first nonsense that drops into his stream of consciousness, no legislation gets signed. This is not a game, this is about our nation. Vote carefully. βοΈπ½πππππ½βοΈ

Check the reality. New York Public Library was defunded; NYPD absolutely was not. Truth vs toxic fiction. You should stick to the truth.
1
NYPD did quite well in contract negotiations. Please realize, if the NYPD is choosing to spend their budget on expensive robots, then other priorities will be left lacking. That's why we need another Mayor.
