  1. Part of the confusion here is the audience's attraction to sound bites. If you listen to the entire 30 min address, it is clear that Biden is speaking to the Russian people in this section. He starts by saying that he's not sure that ordinary Russians are hearing him because of intense government propaganda. Then it was like an exasperated question, why would you want someone who has committed war crimes to lead your country? It was extremely clear that USA policy was not the context of this part of the speech. Many are now trying to distract and deflect to another bright shiny object. Listen to the entire address, rather than a 20 second excerpt.

Afghan women and girls in a very vulnerable position, yet they are still bravely protesting for the right to continue their education beyond sixth grade. Yes, they are protesting still. Imagine an Afghan schoolgirl standing up to the Taliban. Ukraine women would understand, right? Afghanistan still needs international attention because the spotlight is one of the few things that might keep these girls safe. So many people yearning for freedom around the world!!!
