Mobile homes/manufactured homes are not "affordable housing"; they are dangerous housing, especially in a state with Florida's weather challenges. Additionally the owners of those trailer parks have some predatory rental practices, since the trailer owner doesn't own the land that they are parked on. There are responsible ways to construct real affordable multiple dwellings that can comply with safe building codes. Likely a private/public partnership might be needed. Time for Florida government to actually govern and play a role in the safety of their challenged state.

I think Rick Scott sees exactly what is going on, he's just willing to lie about it. That's why his "answers" sound like "Ahhh, hmmm..."

Municipalities acquire the land from trailer park owners at a fair price, community input on low rise condos designs that create real "ownership" instead of the fake ownership of trailers. Condos can increase in value over time, unlike mobile homes. A well designed condo has as much space as a poorly designed mobile home. Plus the extra land can be used as a shared community park. Win win win. Community input on architecture and design so local municipalities can't cave to pressure from large developers.

Β markus belzerΒ Of course, because hate always helps. Hate speech is not free speech it's just ignorant. The topic is Florida's need for true governmental reform, so that we stop hearing about this mismanaged state bouncing from crisis to crisis to crisis.

Keep people safe who currently own mobile homes. Build true affordable housing as low rise condos providing the same space that these small trailers provide (or more space). Plus a condo can increase in value as opposed to mobile homes that depreciate in value like a car as soon as it drives off the lot. Plus the vulnerability to irresponsible trailer park owners who own the land where the trailer is parked. Let's think this through.
