I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope time will be kind to you and yours. Let his loss help motivate us all to work tirelessly on PTSD and suicide prevention and just magnificent abilities to listen and care for each other.

I didn't expect your comment to end on a hopeful tone. So, as a society we have to do better with real resources and wages, not cupcakes and inspirational coffee mugs? Then we might attract the best and the brightest and most experienced and most passionate to return. Awesome! 💙. Also, isn't it time for a stronger nationwide school system? It seems too clear that certain states are short changing their public schools almost by design. Stay strong, stay awesome, education warriors!!

Wow, so disappointing.... Because so much of early Hollywood was energized by Jews who knew exactly what it felt like to be treated badly, they would have very little patience for your comment. Tap dancers, and especially Gene Kelly, learned/stole most of their steps from African American tappers and Latin/flamenco dance. Gene Kelly and his brother Fred performed with Cab Calloway. Gene Kelly made sure to include the Nicholas Brothers in "The Pirate", and performed the scene with them so that it could not be cut out of the movie later. The 1940s were marked by an initiative known as the "double v ", highlighting that the USA needed to score a double victory against both Hitler's fascism and our own racism in order to avoid looking like hypocrites to our allies. Gene Kelly's politics were extremely progressive and his first wife was actually blacklisted as a communist. The concept that talent and creativity depended upon white skin....well, I am absolutely certain that Gene Kelly is laughing at you so hard right now ...with that gorgeous twinkling smile of his and a swaggering step as he walks away from you quick as he can. 🎟️📽️🎭

Does the Afghan adjustment act have a chance of passing during the lame duck session, especially because that calendar is already so clogged? Are there republican sponsors who will push this essential bill in the new Congress? Is there a way to connect the Afghan adjustment act to the defense spending bill that they cannot avoid passing before the lame duck closes? After all, a case could be made that this is a defense matter that was not handled properly before withdrawal. My thoughts are always with Afghanistan, especially with Afghan girls who want to continue their schooling and women who want to work and allies who are living in terror. But I know that thoughts are meaningless. If the Afghanistan adjustment act gets us closer to fair treatment of our allies, it is an absolute must. It must pass with all due deliberate speed. How much longer can our allies wait?

Actually, fairly sure that urban kids who have struggled are more intelligent, because their brains are actually more stimulated. They are constantly thinking all the time, hyper aware just to get through the day, walk home safely, etc. The society will rarely tell them that, so it's super important that the adults who love them tell them how smart they are, albeit perhaps in non traditional ways. And then tell them again and again and again, to drown out negative societal messages. Go for it Detroit.

@randomcyclist-w8f But they never paid the $800,000. Listen to the very end of the video. Make a promise in court that they were never going to keep.

You are uninformed on NYC/NYS rent control and rent stabilized guidelines. Since he said he had lived there all his life, this apartment was probably under rent control, which ended in the mid 1970s. With rent control, owners received regular rent increases as long as their buildings were maintained and kept free of violations. The rent control apartments with crazy low rents are usually the fault of terrible landlords who did not maintain their properties. Unfortunately, NYC has a lot of lousy landlords. So it's not NYC subsidizing the tenant, it's NYC/NYS refusing to subsidize unethical landlords and unsafe poorly maintained properties. I think the real estate industry in general cannot be trusted to regulate itself. I believe that is why we are currently suffering with a housing crisis nationwide.

Please don't blame something else on women and/or the loss of family values!! Environmentally rational things like hanging clothes on a cloth line to dry, or planting food instead of decorative plants and lawns at some point became an issue for property values, because I guess only poor people would try not to be wasteful? I do believe there are some homeowner associations that have guidelines about this stuff. If you are looking for someone to blame, I would start with the real estate industry. They might be the ones who decided that curb appeal means lawn.

@GoFastGator I would love for communities to think more about the role of the real estate industry, property values and homeowners associations in shaping suburban gardening habits. It is more than possible to maintain a garden without dedicating an eight hour shift daily to the effort.

Some counties should create incentives to plant milkweed. I think monarch butterflies like that stuff. Imagine how beautiful your yard would be if your house is the butterfly magnet of the cul de sac! Go for it!!

Wow, so much truth crammed into seven minutes. What will we do without a functioning public school system? Democracy depends on it, because without education no one understands what they are voting for. Oh, wait .... That's what they want. And when you see that map you understand. It's like a recipe for permanent poverty for the children of these states, oops except for the very few at the top. And then let's weaponize politically the anger that is generated by the grinding poverty and ignorance. What are we doing? This is our nation.

Highly recommend almost every type of bulb. Our block association used to plant them in the nearby park. They got almost zero care but bloomed every spring anyway!! Also, my favorite thing was seeing the little tips struggling up through the ground in February, because you knew that meant that winter was almost over.
