In the civil war, Lincoln was branded by the southeners as an invader and a tyrant. This is as a result of the mindset that each province was independent unto itself. China fundamentally lacks this belief because of the CCP, which is the same mentality the Qin had before China fell apart. That level of unification is not sustainable (at this moment) nor is it optimal. And, yes, democracy is overhyped if your populace is stupid and/or actively disengages from the mechanisms of politics. Socrates said as much. However, as history has demonstrated, places with central planning or autocracies quickly become inefficient once base needs have been met. That is literally what is happening in China; liberalism v socialism.

If only the CCP would let that happen.
1
Bingo. If China's leadership meaningfully reflected its people, it wouldn't be humilating itself still.
1
Revolution does that. The CCP just wants to flatten Chinese expression because that's easier to control.
1
lol, nationalist rhetoric to incite violence. classic play
1
How long you gonna hold onto that one? How many times does the son have to be whipped for the sins of his fathers?
1
When your ideology is internally inconsistent, you eventually have to pick sides.

Man, I love China and the Chinese people but really dislike the CCP. They almost aggressively squander Chinese potential. Imagine if, for Taiwan's sake, the Chinese took up democracy and acted as friends and allies to the people that they presume to assimilate.
1
So much for China's longterm perspective. Turns out, economic forces trump military coercion in the big game.
1
It's only a hard decision because the CCP exists. They are the ones pushing the issue and stopping a peaceful exchange. If they, for example, had a DPP entity in their political makeup, Taiwan would be more amiable to 'annexation'.

Just post it in Chinese instead of translating it with Google or DeepL. We can do the translation ourselves if we are so inclined.

dafuq is with these sorts of comments for more minuta When will we stop from asking for extreme detail in broad perspective videos?
1
Yeah, from. the. Chinese. perspective.
1
Lol, we'd probably grant independence to Hawaii and PR if they asked for it Working with the US is probably better for them than going it alone at this point.
1
Nothing. There was nothing before the white man.
1
bruh

reads the "forgot to mention" comments around this one 🤔🤔🤔🤔
1
Yeah, this video isn't nearly long enough to give a broad overview. You need to recount China's full history from myth to modern in excuriating detail. Otherwise, the video is worthless......................

China continues to encircle the island "I wonder why..."

Especially when we do it because we know its wrong

"As a socialist, I believe in freedom and liberty" loooooooool okay

This comment is awkward AND ironic

All manner of unification options are available. You can even try some "tried and tested" forms that won't require violence
