  11. I would recommend Gurren Lagann or One Punch Man to understand how Grimdark works. In those shows, you're basically told from minute one "this will be a series of victories" but you still watch it to see the victories unfold. Grimdark is the exact opposite; you see someone struggle against odds because you get to see the struggle even if it's in vain. It tells you that the path is the important part, not the endpoint.
