If I ever make it to Japan, this might be the best idea (to go with a ghuided tour)

I agree with you. It’s their country. When I go to someone’s house I will abide by their rules. They have every right to expect us to respect their culture.

@banjo5835 yes, I'd be ok with a ''no tourist'' policy as well. However, I still believe that business owners should have the right to refuse service to whomever they choose. If it turns out to be an unpopular decision, they will simply go under/bankrupt. Let the competition with other businesses sort this out. Capitalism has its perks sometimes.

Just stumbled upon this channel recently. When the Japanese guy said Ohio, I felt like telling him, not now… not right now… Pokerface I hope you’re doing ok. I’m sorry this tragedy is happening, especially because somehow the media isn’t paying the attention it should to it. Take care.

It’s good advice. I also find it interesting that many people decide they want to learn Japanese because they watch anime. See how cartoons can influence the world!

@notoriousj_ that's why I have no issue with this policy. See my replies above. I think private businesses should be allowed to restrict who they want to serve.

Hi Takashi, this is not very relevant to the interview, but to the video - at 3:16, it was the FIRST TIME I ever saw a piece of paper on the street, flying around. The streets of Japan are so clean, this very small detail caught my attention! 😄

I think any private business has the right to not serve who they don’t want to serve. There’s tons of restaurant options, I honestly don’t care if they prefer Japanese-only customers. It’s the same principle as “no shirt, no shoes, no service” that we have in North America. And I agree with this policy, so I can’t be hypocritical and say that I’m offended if they don’t want me in a restaurant. I’ll just go elsewhere.

I like his topics and I like that he at least gets these conversations going. It might be with a small sample of people, but look at how many of us are watching! There’s still hope for me to visit Japan in this lifetime, I think I’d enjoy it so much.

@gordonbgraham I didn't know that... interesting, because it seemed like the one commenter said they were so nationalistic, why would they allow the Chinese to take over.

I enjoyed your video and I send my love to the Japanese people. Maybe someday I’ll come and visit, and will keep in mind your advice. Thank you.

Me too. It’s refreshing.

@itsnemosoul8398 I lived in Munich for 3 years in the early 2000s and it felt like a very safe place during that time. My mom and my aunt visited me and at one point at night time, I was looking at the U bahn station map and the two of them were more to the side. Two guys passed by them and did some kind of cat call. But they were not German, they were foreigners, I could tell by their accent. There was no one around, and my mom and aunt ignored them and they walked on. That was the only time, so the harassers were not even German. It was only 3 years that I lived in Munich but I had a great time and it was a very safe place. Sending my love to Germany.

@gogugom3801 yeah that was my point. It is so clean there, that a random piece of paper flying around actually got my attention.

Great idea for a topic, I hope Takashi explores this issue.
