  8. The England soccer team has two players whose parents are of peasant origin, Irish Roman Catholic. Their families really did endure suffering at the hands of an aristocracy planted in Ireland to enforce oppression. They have no public opinion on Northern Ireland. They regard it as an internal matter in "Ulster". They even endure a player called McShane moaning continually about their refusal to agree with NI "Provos". And one of them has routinely responded to McShane's barbs. There is no comparison with Ireland. This is far more like Burma.

Concerning the sectarian politics in Northern Ireland The Catholic hierarchy ( located mostly south of the border ) condemned sectarian violence The Anglican church hierarchy condemned sectarian violence The Methodist leadership condemned violence The standard Presbyterian leadership condemned sectarian violence. Therefore the current development is much worse than Northern Ireland.
