They mean a mindset that exists in Lowland and central Scotland, but which is absent elsewhere including most of England and Wales. They are confused. Also they are not serious Protestants. Few of them, if any go to church. The probability that they have read either Testament is low. In fact the probability that they read any lireature considered "Protestant" ( like The Pilgrim's Progress, or biographies of Luther, Calvin, Thomas Cranmer, etc..) is non existent. They are confused.

NI is full of contradictions. Those kids talked about "Protestant culture". Do Protestants in Germany or the Netherlands have a "Protestant culture" to differentiate themselves from others who are RC? Few of those in the video go to Church. Church attendance rates in the Protestant denominations are on the floor. They are NOT serious Protestants!!!! Concerning culture... NI has an abysmal diet. Also has an abysmal rate of language learning ( grammatical errors abound even in English) ( French is for "taigs" etc..). They loathe culturally educated English people like Bo Jo or Rees Moog. These people are a bunch of walking Clichés. They need to read more. ( asking them to travel more is pointless, as many of them are on welfare or low paid jobs serving each other fast food). Incidentally, the other side of the fence are also loaded with contradictions, supporting a bunch of reconstructed murderers who borrowed heavily from the USSR in return for Semtex explosive and AK47 assault rifles....

@WHU63 actually the monetary value of the NHS freebies are not considerable. People in the RoI who have medical cards get the same freebies. The real difference, which is considerable is in relation to taxation. Taxes in the RoI are massive, and have always been much higher. The institutional state in the Republic is extremely over extended and expensive. Take out low tax ( American) mncs are the economy in the RoI is not based on incentives, but on price gouging.

"British culture in NI" is a term for a particular mindset that is absent from England and Wales, but which still exists in the Scottish lowlands. It would be more accurate to describe it as Scottish values...... But Scotland has an external image that is opposite to the Scottish internal concept.

NI has problems arising from personal irresponsibility, obsession with escapism ( watching TV, going around in Rangers shirts), junk food ( stingyness), & blaming their mistakes on "the taigs/Friday Fisher eaters/fenians" etc.... Class has nothing do do with it. Even more indicative is the declining Church attendance rate amongst younger unionists. Be honest. It might help fix something.

@dfmosDOS our media is relentlessly teaching us to hate the British for asking for more sovereignty from Brussels. I have noticed. Maybe it slipped under your radar. I am not participating in the contempt fest of the Irish media. If the English want more freedom, I support that as much as I support it from anybody else. Whether it is from Brussels, the Windsor family, or whatever.

@jpgduff did you read orwel's Nineteen Eighty Four? Or Solzenitsyn? Equality is a ruse for con artists/opportunists on the make. Their problem is not equality, it is personal responsibility. They are averse to it. Welfare, protection rackets, TV as an educator, mindless escapism ( that whole Rangers nonsense, plus rugger for the rural version), & cheap food ( always a sign of bad culture when people consume for a hit rather than nutrition). PSF have control over the nationalist community, and that makes everything worse, because PSF are extremely superficial. It is not good.

There is an excellent series on the French Revolution, produced by the French in the 1980s, with Robespierre accurately depicted as a meglamaniacal murderer who had to be murdered by the Revolutionaries. After he was murdered the reign of terror subsided. He is a warning to history of what happens when a political movement is taken over by an ego maniacal tyrant.

@5888max I looked it up. There is a party in The NL on 1 to 2.5% of the vote!!!!! How hard it is necessary to find this????? And.... They are clearly irrelevant, as they have always been in opposition. I am wo Deri g why you needed to find something that was that difficult to find. To their credit they probably are what they say they are - one could not throw that accusation at the confused Orange ( oh where did they get that from? ) spectrum in NI. Most Germans I know where more concerned about the validity of Merkel's degrees and her role in DDR organizations than her father's profession. She parades it around, but it is to cover up other stuff that is far more telling, & indeed sinister. Now, you cannot compare either to the LOL bands, the glorification of militarism, the need to be seen in public in uniforms, marching to military music, or the "no popery" paranoia, and all the rest if it. Though they are right to be paranoid about the political wing of an army that spent 25 years murdering them. They are confused.

So a bunch of people banging military drums, "marching", playing military tunes, dressed in military uniforms has clearly never been an expression of an obsession with all things related to the military. They are just expressing their cultural version of Tchaikovsky's "Sugar plum fairy" down the Ormeau Road for the culturally under appreciative..... Of course.... @5888max I read your comments, which amount to squirming around in search of justification for absurd behaviour. I see evidence that NI is not going to grow up any time soon. I see evidence of a desperate need on your part to define militarism as religion, and culture. I sense a defensive-offensive mindset. I would term it the aggression of the uninformed. I could request that you read more and learn more. But you are too confident for that. You are proof that Ulster is clueless, and angry. I do not know where it will end up - very possibly blowing up car bombs outside newspaper offices in Dublin, or attacking politicians. This is no good.

@simonwiggins8570 there are three Sinn Féin. ( that might sound like a joke, so I will explain). Official Sinn Féin, mostly in lower income areas of North Dublin, Limerick, Waterford, Kerry etc... They lost a large chunk of their members to the Irish Labour Party ( who incidentally hate the Irish, and hate labour) in the 1990s. They are Marxists. Many of them infiltrated the media in the 1970s,and they practise a lot if nepotism. Extremely materialistic. They also show up in the sociology departments of universities, the institutions of state, and in left wing organizations. They hate the RCC. Republican Sinn Féin - another splinter group in Dublin, Louth, Cavan. They are militants, who want a war, but want the RoI to do the fighting. Small, angry and slightly unhinged. They hate "the Brits" . Provisional Sinn Féin. This is the Big Sinn Féin. They have the Provisional IRA, and large scale criminal rackets. They have infiltrated the Gardaí, various trade unions, various professions ( education seems to be of interest to them). They hate the other political parties in the RoI, "the Brits" & the RCC. All of them want to control, and subsume the entire population into a "32 county socialist Republic". They have defined this to be the ultimate goal of "history" on the island. All of them have a degree of Marxism contained. Only PSF has been murdering. But OSF would murder if given an opportunity. Now you know the enemy. I recommend "the gulag Archipelago" as reading material. Or the film produced about the Holodomor last year, involving a journalist (Mr. Jones) who told the truth about Communism in the 1930s. He was later killed by the KGB in China, as a reprisal.

Not sure if their position on social change will make them more industrious......some of them happen to have an extreme position on social change, but they are biding their time, and not doing anything to upset you....

@frosty_soda read the newspapers in Dublin. Just to see what they think of NI. PSF do not control Ireland South of a line between Sligo and Dundalk. The media does, however. If anything, the Irish Times newspaper is more determined to rule NI than even PSF. Except the Irish Times newspaper does it in a cuddly, soft, patronising conremptous manner. Unlike PSF, they are more influential in regard to policy making.

@roisinmalone3015 guilt trip? The government in Dublin have done everything possible to prevent Brexit, and their moves had nothing to do with NI. Look at the size of the public deficit of what was once a "free" state.... Money calls the tune.
