  3. Within Sunni Islam, there is a divide between the Muslim Brotherhood, and the Salafists (Saudi Arabia, and increasingly Pakistan). Both are aiming for the control of the cult.

  4. Is Erdogan "unhinged" ? His strategies are irrational, and mostly based on the need for attention/approval, from what exactly, it is not possible to decide.  The root cause of every problem is a cult of a 6th century murderer, and it's varied interpretations. Within Sunni Islam, everybody wants to be the Caliph, or else wants their own Caliph, to suit their own interpretation. The only solution, is widespread apostasy from the cult. Until then, there will be murder, repression, conflict, rape, etc...
