  2. The GBP lost it's reserve currency status in 1944 or thereabouts. Ending the system of Imperial preference, resulted in a gradual decimation of British industry, which relied on public stimulus programs since 1945. Losing India in 1948 was another setback. However, even the British never abused the reserve currency status like the current gang of amateurs in Washington. They have more in common with Versailles in the 1780s, obsessed with intrigue, vanity, presentation and utter absurdity. Spain in the 1640s, and Britain in the 1950s were far more rational and sensible. Washington is now truly frightening. One part like the Kaiser's over militaristic regime, one part Versailles.
