Last November she backed the now disgraced EU Commissioner from Ireland, when the Irish media wanted the deputy PM in the job. Now Hogan is gone in disgrace. Elmer Blok (the voice of Merkel in the EP) wanted Hogan to get another chance and a second appointment. Presumably the German media talks about none of this.
