  1. Her legacy is that all Germany's neighbours with the possible exception of The Netherlands, and France detest the political power in Berlin. She has been a diplomatic disaster. She walked from one blunder to the next - all carefully choreographed as a "success" by the media in the service of the rich. The problem of her legacy is now leaving everybody with a mess to resolve that has not existed in decades. Merkel is proof that a bad leader in Berlin, is a disastrous experience for Europe. I honestly cannot think of one thing that she did correctly. Even the silent bailout of the Spanish banking system resulted in bad loans from Spanish banks into Turkish real estate. Merkel - proof that a politician can be totally reckless, and destructive - and the media will be delighted.

The long term implications of Merkel is a political disaster - Merkel has availed of every opportunity to use EU power to consolidate her own position in Germany, and to deflect from policy ineptitude. Merkel has been a diplomatic Chernobyl, leaving a mess in her midst. Macron then emerged with an intention to out-Merkel Merkel. Thankfully, rebellious French protestors have stopped Macron before he made Europe turn against France. Bring back Gerhard Schroeder - all is forgiven. Did Schroeder even annoy even one country in his time in control ? Merkel seems to have caused problems with everybody. Her use of EU power, has made the EU a dysfunctional mess.
