Before that the CIA backed a corrupt oligarch, to become Ukrainian President. He centralize the state system. He put Nutsees in charge of the police. He banned trade unions he did not like. He banned the Communist Party ( barely necessary as they were a fringe group). He instigated brutal repression against internal dissent. He launched relentless attacks on civilians. The Ukrainians got sick of him. The CIA and another oligarch backed a comedian to take his place. There is no Ukrainian freedom. The CIA ended it. And they will not allow it.
