  1. The French state was bankrupt, due to reckless military misadventures. France fought three large expensive wars between 1740 and 1780, that gained nothing in return. The first one was spite against Austria, the second was spite against Prussia, and the third was spite against Britain. Wasting money for negative reasons. Without no money, no food, and too many soldiers, France was an explosion waiting to blow. The new rulers had a new set of terms, a new pursuit of power, and ultimately new wars against the neighbours of France.
