Facing the possibility of leadership challenges Johnson could chase an escape valve to distract from serial ineptitude. The new German Green party Foreign Minister is inexperienced, impulsive, and out of her depth. Her qualification is the leadership of a political party whose impracticality and tendency towards fantasy is considerable. Every federal government in Berlin with Green party involvement has ended in failure dressed up as a PR stunt. The current Polish government is also very volatile. Erdogan is also desperate for a Gualtieri moment. He has tried bullying others and interfering in their politics in Syria, Egypt and other places, with disastrous consequences.

He is living his own boyish drama, in a bubble of his own imagination. Ask any of his ex wives, and they will explain that he never grew up. Poland's current government are paranoid about their sovereignty. The current crisis will push them on a path that will destroy Polish independence. Berlin has no tolerance for Polish independence. The current government in Berlin is very different. It is full of people who are antagonistic towards both Eastern and Southern European self determination. Erdogan is the most volatile of all. His Ponzi prosperity is cracking apart. The young people are apostasizing. The Kurds are muscling in. And he badly needs scapegoats, he needs a distraction. He is now extremely dangerous. He has offended several neighbours already, and has picked quarrels with a lot of people. He is belligerent in his tendency. And then there is the regime in Kiev itself.
