Sam Harris is wrong about BLM but I think he made some good points during that debate that Ezra dodged. Specifically about how easy and uncontroversial it is to talk about how Europeans almost exclusively have Neatherthal DNA in their genetic code and how that same discussion would be almost impossible in the current political climate if they found it exclusively in African DNA. The scientists wouldn't even dare publish it. Which is sad.

Why would an atheist watch Jordan Peterson videos when he is not an atheist?

@johnedwards1968 Sam's argument isn't that political correctness has run amuck in society as a whole he specifically is critical about how it's gone too far on the Left in some situations. He aligns his own political identity as being on the Left so this is a valid frustration for him and others. It's true that it was merely a thought experiment and sometimes Sam has gotten caught up in trying to be too anti-policially correct so instead lets look at whats happening to me here in this thread. I start my statement with saying that Sam was wrong about BLM and then went on to my example of Ezra dodging Sam's point. About 20mins later I'm being told "You clearly do not understand the fundamental flaw with Sam Harris. Go away until you do." which is a complete non-arugment and its just an attack. I don't care at all but this serves to prove Sam right in his criticism of the pervasive cancel culture of the Left. Btw, you don't think what we did to Al Franken was too far? We lost a Senator because of a stupid picture he took a long time ago all the while the Right protects their people no matter what they do. Principle is great until you don't have the votes to pass the legislation that is going to matter to normal people.

@strongbone9471 Yes, this thead is beginning to serve as an example of how Sam Harris is right about the pervasive cancel culture of the Left. How does that make you feel? Me personally I think it's kind of funny. I guess that's because I lost hope in humanity long ago.

@strongbone9471 i disagree. I think the people who listen to them are different and if they are the same then its through different phases of their lives or something. I don't see what is so bad about sam harris to be honest. Because he criticizes Muslims? Like, that's not hard to do when you think about.

@cjohnson3836 What I find funny about JP and the alt right kids that follow him is that most of them don't even realize he is Canadian and the whole mandatory pronoun issue that made him famous was occurring on a Canadian university Campus but the Alt-right portrayed it as an American 1st Amendment issue. lmao.. wow they all got suckered

Sam Harris as a human is fallible and won't always get it right, but his criticisms towards Islam are spot on. The only countries on this planet that will execute you under their law for being homosexual are all Muslim countries. Btw before you say I'm racist or something I am pro-Palestine and I think Israel needs to kick rocks. Religion is poison.

@TWFarr it's people like you who can't articulate their position that's needs to go away.

@hks2377 Why would it matter what I think of Neanderthals? You completely missed the point.
1
@strongbone9471 what exactly are you trying to achieve with personal attacks? Are you trying to prove my point for me?
1
@null6955 You have to understand the history in America to understand the controversy in that thought experiment. Researchers researching the human genetic code shouldn't intentionally hide or not publish their findings because society finds it offensive and as far as such research being dangerous well.. I don't believe any of that research is true as far as eugenics go so publish it all they want it doesn't matter because IQ is not a true measurement of intelligence anyway.
1
@strongbone9471 "tone policing?" now you are being disingenuous. Are you going to answer the question or not? You don't have to if you don't want to.
1
@strongbone9471 this is why i said you are now being disingenuous. Are you often accused of being passive-aggressive?
1
@strongbone9471 You need to reexamine this thread and find exactly where it is you got lost. I'm done

@mostHumblePersonAlive No I just think that Sam Harris actually made some good points that Ezra dodged during their debate. And for merely saying that even though I conceded that Sam is wrong about BLM I am still attacked and called an idiot "Sam Harris Stan." This kind of attitude does not help the Left but instead only serves to reinforce the pervasive cancel culture that is eating itself from within and some of the attitudes displayed here by people like Strong Bone and TFarr serve as living examples.

@mostHumblePersonAlive Sure, the internet just being a nasty place can be an excuse we use to treat people like shit. But it's not going to be an excuse that I use.
