@BenedictMHolland You're right. People who can't afford a dentist likely don't have 50k in debt for anything. That just makes it all the more bitter. It would be better to start including student loan debt in bankruptcies and make college more accessible for everyone instead of just forgiving debt this one time for people who mostly will just redirect that monthly payment to a new debt like a new car or some other expenses.. Real poor people out there feel completely left out of this whole process and it doesn't help grow the tent. It's a poison pill

give 50k to all americans then. Why should college graduates get a free 50k from people working jobs that don't even earn that much in a year?

Student Debt relief is not something our President should be focusing on when we have so many other challenges. It's a "hand-up" to people whom are mostly doing just fine. There are people with REAL problems out here.

@lividsunshine8968 I don't like musk either, he is a con artist vaporware salesman. The fact that we've given him millions in government subsidies is criminal IMO. Poor people and most people for that matter are not looking at it in some grand strategy that you are - what they see is their taxes going to help already privileged college kids that don't share the kinds of struggles they do. Aka, waiting for their teeth to rot out so they can get dentures just to have the self-confidence to smile again... Biden would be better off using this time to make education more accessible for everyone instead of forgiving debt to people who in most circumstances are doing alright for themselves - regardless of their debts. Complaining about college debt is the epitome of the "First World Problems" meme. Real poor people, and I mean REAL poor people look at this as a handout for the privileged in our country. The disconnect between the truly impoverished and those that "think" they are poor is really staggering in this country.

@BenedictMHolland Maybe it would be nice but it seems to me Presidents only get a very small number of key items/agenda through during their term and I feel like there is just so many other things that should come before forgiving student loan debt. People are dying

this kind of debt forgiveness is a poison pill. There are working class people with rotting teeth that can't afford to see a dentist but they should pay taxes to help college graduates divert money to a Roth IRA or retirement instead of paying back a loan.. It's stuff like this that makes real poor people hate politics and hate the left.
