  5.  @billj696  What are you trying to imply? That there's something wrong with becoming wealthy later in life? Sen. Sanders' economic status changed because he is a fine writer and published two successful books. One, in 2016, "Our Revolution," was #3 on The New York Times Best-Seller list and also published in China, England, France, Germany, Serbia and South Korea. Then, in 2017, Bernie's European publishers invited him to come for a speaking tour in England, Germany and Ireland over the congressional Memorial Day break. The crowds at every event were large, with significant media coverage. As Newsweek reported, "Just days after Trump received a frosty reception on his first trip across the Atlantic since entering the White House, Sanders earned a rapturous reception from more than 1,000 students at Berlin's Free University." In Oxford, one paper noted, "Many in the audience had been queuing for hours, and when the Senator arrived in the chamber he was greeted with a thunderous, standing ovation and a chorus of cheering." Etc. More book sales, no surprise, resulted. His later book, "Where We Go from Here: Two Years in the Resistance," chronicles the day-to-day struggles that he, and millions of progressives, waged for two years against Trump's reactionary agenda and for a government that works for All of Us (not just wealthy campaign contributors). It covers his help leading the fight for Medicare for All, for higher wages for desperate workers, for children and all effected by gun violence, for the people of Puerto Rico devastated by Hurricane Maria...as well as for veterans, teachers, the persecuted, the incarcerated and all of those who are too often ignored by Washington. Not to forget standing up to the most dishonest and reactionary president in our history and also taking on the oligarchs of Wall Street. Sanders has the same clear voice on foreign policy--especially a striving for peace, not war, and for international cooperation to address and combat the crisis of climate change. He knows these are painful, even frightening times, but the struggle is not just for us. The goal is to create and maintain a vibrant democracy where the voices of all are heard...and where our nation leads the world in the struggle for civic, economic, environmental, gender, racial, social justice...and for peace. That goal is for All of Us, our kids, our grandchildren and the future of the planet. NotMeUs.
