I sure agree with all three of your points about Bernie! Wonder if you already know of Bernie's special history with Chicago...or if he mentioned any of it during his strong remarks at Brandon's rally. A Champaign native, 84 now, I first learned of Bernie when I opened our Chicago newspaper in August 196, and there was a policeman "helping" a slight young man (with tons of curly brown hair) to the ground for marching against segregation. The NAACP got him out the next day. Bernie then helped organize a busload to D.C. at the end of the month for MLK's historic March for Jobs and Freedom and memorable "I Have a Dream" speech. These and a few other of his continuing efforts in Chicago are collected on the wonderful You Tube, "Bernie and Civil Rights in Chicago." which is still available. WELL... A beep just reported the Chicago election results are in. Seems early.... Brandon is such the better man, in every way, to be Chicago's progressive new mayor! But the unimpressive Vargas had So Much Money. Guess time will soon tell. #NotMeUs.

@yourgodismean4526 Portland will always have a very special place in my Heart because of Sen. Sanders' event there. when a tiny birdie came to perch on his podium. She/he/it looked him the eye for several seconds while Bernie was stunned and the crowd went wild. After being assured its message of appreciation and support had been received by All, the little hero soared away...and the crowd continued to roar. I hear this delightful, heart-warming episode is archived on You Tube, but I haven't managed to check that out yet.

@user-et4in4oq8j Sorry you chose to post this. Sen. Sanders did not exactly "quit" as you claimed. He made a well-considered decision after the DC primary on June 14, 2016, to step out of the race for POTUS because research showed the votes were not going to be there to win the presidency. He felt the cost in time, money and heart for his dedicated staff, volunteers and voter base just could not be justified. Starting out at about 3% in the polls, he'd won 22 states with more than 13 million votes. He'd especially earned "overwhelming" support from young voters--Black, White, Latino, Asian American and Native American. The final vote count showed that he'd earned more votes from people under 40 than Clinton and Trump combined. His next mission was to achieve the most progressive platform in the history of the Democrati Party. That he/they did.

Yes! And, to this Champaign native, that means my home state won, too! NotMeUs.

@kenkunz1428 Ha. What a kind reply from you for me to see this morning. I'm very glad you corrected me. I won't make THAT mistake again....altho' many others, no doubt, sad to say. I've never met Sen. Sanders, or spoken to him or had any other direct contact with him. Still--accepting that Nobody's Perfect--I've strongly believed in his consistent efforts for All of Us since I first learned of him in '63. WELL... I just happened to look up at my post of yesterday and see that I made another typo there! "196" was supposed to be "1963," of course. Sigh.... I've not yet read his book, "Our Revolution," #3 on The New York Times Bestseller list and the reason he became a millionaire later in life. I do have his "Where We Go from Here: Two Years in the Resistance," (2018), which was a good read that I've now used for reference a number of times. Thanks again! #NotMeUs.

@RK-jc8oe A Champaign native, 84 now. I like to share the You Tube "Bernie and Civil Rights in Chicago" as a 1963 example of Sanders' long public service record of diverse work for All of Us--in Illinois and throughout our nation. That service includes being a re-elected mayor of Vermont's largest city (for which he received national recognition), then a re-elected US representative and now a re-elected US senator. He's earned honors from two of our nation's largest service organizations, the American Legion and VFW. He's earned two honorary degrees. He's also only one man. Somehow his detractors seem to feel he needs to do Everything for Everybody to deserve recognition at all. #NotMeUs.

Me, too! I'd never heard of Brandon before. But Bernie's support for him made me sure he was the right (as in "correct") candidate! ;-)
